Tanzania, Serbia explore ways to cement their long-standing friendly ties

DODOMA: TANZANIA’S Speaker of the National Assembly, Mussa Azzan Zungu, held talks with the Ambassador of the Republic of Serbia to Tanzania, Jovica Topalović, in Dodoma, where they discussed ways to further develop and strengthen the long-standing and friendly relations between Tanzania and Serbia.

During the talks, the two leaders expressed their commitment to giving fresh impetus to existing cooperation, particularly through parliamentary diplomacy. Emphasis was placed on strengthening relations between the Parliaments of Tanzania and Serbia, as well as facilitating the exchange of experience, knowledge and best parliamentary practices.

Zungu also congratulated Ambassador Topalović and the Government of Serbia on the decision to open an embassy in Dodoma. He further welcomed Serbia’s plans to construct a permanent embassy building in the Government City of Mtumba.

For his part, Ambassador Topalović thanked the Tanzanian Government for providing Serbia with a plot of land in the Government City for the construction of its embassy. He said preparations to begin construction of the embassy building are underway.

Beyond parliamentary diplomacy, the two leaders discussed opportunities to expand cooperation in areas of mutual interest, including education, trade, tourism and sports.

Tanzania and Serbia have maintained longstanding friendly relations founded on shared history, mutual respect and cooperation on international matters. The talks underscore the commitment of both sides to further strengthen these ties and ensure that the relationship delivers greater economic, social and diplomatic benefits to the people of Tanzania and Serbia.
