DAR ES SALAAM: AS Muslims in Tanzania and around the world prepare to commemorate Maulid, the birth of Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him), the occasion offers far more than a moment of festive gathering. It presents an opportunity for deep reflection on the Prophet’s life, character and enduring moral legacy.

Sent as a mercy to humanity, Prophet Muhammad’s life offers timeless guidance rooted in righteousness, compassion, justice and peaceful coexistence, principles that remain urgently relevant in today’s fast-changing world.

One of the most important lessons Muslims can draw from the Prophet’s life is the value of good character. He was known for honesty, kindness, patience, humility and forgiveness. Maulid therefore provides an opportunity for believers to ask themselves whether they are living by these values in their homes, workplaces and communities. The true significance of remembering the Prophet lies not only in speaking about his virtues, but also in putting his teachings into practice.
