Manqoba refuses to underestimate JKT

DAR ES SALAAM: YOUNG Africans’ Head Coach Manqoba Mngqithi has warned his players against underestimating JKT Tanzania when the two sides meet in the Mainland Premier League, insisting their recent results do not reflect their true quality.

JKT have collected just one point from their last two matches, drawing with TRA United before losing to Polisi Tanzania. Despite the poor start, Manqoba believes those results offer a misleading picture of Ahmad Ally’s side.

Manqoba acknowledged JKT’s technical ability and described them as an innovative, dynamic team with considerable potential.

Manqoba said he had been impressed by the work Ally has done with the team and believes JKT have been unfortunate not to get better results from their recent performances.

“They have been unfortunate. They created some good moments, and they play dynamic football,” Manqoba said.

He also highlighted the quality available across the JKT squad, warning that his side will have to work hard to contain their threat rather than rely on their opponents’ recent form.

“We are not entitled to the results. We have to work very hard and do what we have to do to make sure that we minimise their threat,” he said.

Young Africans have had a positive start, winning two of their games, beating Namungo 3-1 before winning 4-1 against Coastal Union.

Ahead of the match, JKT Tanzania Head Coach Ahmad Ally has urged his players to put their recent disappointment behind them and focus on the challenge ahead, insisting the team remains on course with its development despite the results.

“I am happy with the team and the group we have. We were disappointed with the result last time out, but that’s football. We have to put it behind us and focus on what comes next.

As a coach, my job is to develop this group and get the best out of the players. We have a good team with talented players, and we have to continue working together to achieve the goals we have set.”

Ally also acknowledged Yanga’s quality, particularly their strength in midfield, combinations and attacking play in wide areas and half-spaces.
